Grip the Seams

When Felix Hernandez took the mound on August 15, 2012, no one could foresee that the fans at Safeco Field would witness perfection first hand. King Felix, an apt nickname, threw a perfect game that day, and the Mariners needed that flawless performance as they barely squeaked by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 1 – 0. Pitching a perfect game should have paved the way to a comfortable margin of victory.  Unfortunately, for King Felix, the Mariners offense has offered little to no run support this year or past years, and even King Felix can not produce wins under those constraints. Someone needs to throw a lifeline to Felix Hernandez and rescue him from the Mariners.

The various forms of Mariners management has not shown the ability to construct a team that can win. Heck, forget winning, they have not shown an ability to put a mediocre product on the field. Last year’s team caused Mariners manager Eric Wedge to juggle his lineup so many times…
